Garcinia Cambogia — Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA)

Standardised HCA extracts and a complete family of water-soluble single, double and triple mineral salts.

Garcinia cambogia — Malabar tamarind — yields hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a weight-management active extracted from the dried fruit rind. CTA manufactures HCA extracts standardised from 50% to 70%, with assay by HPLC.

Our distinctive capability is the HCA mineral-salt platform. Free HCA is hygroscopic and unstable; converting it to mineral salts gives a stable, water-soluble, formulation-friendly active. CTA produces single-salt (calcium or potassium), double-salt (potassium–calcium) and triple-salt (potassium–magnesium–calcium) grades, including a 70% water-soluble grade. Garcinia is also cultivated on the group's own Rawther Plantations estate, giving a backward-integrated supply line.

Our Process Depth

Why this is a CTA speciality

CTA holds a documented HCA salt-conversion library, supported by double- and triple-salt process know-how:

  • Base mineral route (BMR) HCA extraction
  • Single-salt conversion — calcium HCA and potassium HCA
  • Double-salt (potassium–calcium) HCA
  • Triple-salt (potassium–magnesium–calcium) HCA
  • 70% water-soluble HCA grade
  • Moisture- and free-acid-controlled finishing for stability

A documented process library is what separates a speciality product from a commodity — it makes grades reproducible and lets CTA develop a custom specification with confidence.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Free hydroxycitric acid is hygroscopic and tends to lactonise, losing activity. Converting it to calcium, potassium or mixed mineral salts produces a stable, water-soluble active suited to tablets, sachets and beverages.

A single salt pairs HCA with one mineral (calcium or potassium). Double salt uses potassium and calcium; triple salt adds magnesium. Multi-mineral salts improve solubility and deliver functional minerals alongside the HCA.

Garcinia is cultivated on the group's Rawther Plantations estate and through the buy-back network, supporting traceable supply.
